Nestled among Ponderosa pine trees, our clients were looking for a backyard guest house to match the Chalet characteristics of their adjacent main residence. We started the project by renovating the standard two car garage and salvaging much of the framing to use in creating the ADU (accessory dwelling unit). We created a cozy interior by marrying old and new design with high vaulted volumes, exposed wood trusses and OSB ceiling. Stained concrete flooring allowed us to reduce costs by cleverly combining finished floor with structural flooring. We came up with energy-efficient heating solution by recommending a single 30K BTU natural gas stove and ceiling fans.
