Rusk Ranch Nature Center: In Progress

We were approached by a group of hardworking individuals who have strong vision for creating a visitor center that will attract and educate the local community as well as tourists from afar. The Rusk Family donated the Nature Center land, which currently houses the Butterfly Pavilion, as a place to learn about nature. This beautiful property is ideally situated along the Illinois River on Highway 99 leading to the Redwoods and the coast and encompasses a diverse eco-system with meadows surrounded by lush forest – a natural environment for learning.

The new Nature Center was designed with high ceilings to capture and allow in natural light. There will be indoor and outdoor exhibits, flexible, multi-use spaces for local events, town hall meetings, weddings, etc, as well as a flexible floor plan for future, unknown uses. The Butterfly Pavilion will be integrated into this new space and we are interfacing with local trade and crafts people to possible incorporate their artistic endeavors into the design.
